[vtkusers] setup prob

hi all
i'm using vtk3.2 on win98
i tried running nmake & keep gettin the msg:

NMAKE: fatal error U1073: dont know how to make
vtkPCForce.cxx
Stop

found some source & header files in my vtkbin
directory. copied these over to the directory where my
compiler was but got the same thing

also tried running vcvars32.bat but kept getting 
Out of environment space
does this refer to disk space? but i've over 2G free..

How can i solve these?
