[vtkusers] VTK Callbacks... do they exist?

Good morning,

I'm using VTK along with a haptics (force feedback) library. I need to 
implement code which reads information from the haptic device, using that 
data to update the vtk image and redraw it, return the cursor position to 
the haptics device and begin the loop again. Is there a way to implement 
callbacks in vtk or interrup the rendering loop in vtk? I need to be able 
to switch control from the haptics device to vtk and back.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
