Has anyone else had trouble with vtkPolyDataReader hanging on update in
Linux RedHat 6.2? I'm using vtk 2.4.0, Revision: 1.268, Date:
1999/09/08 with python 1.5, but had similar trouble with vtk 3.12 with
python 1.6.
This script quickly displays cone.vtk running on IRIX 6.4. On Linux, it
prints "about to update reader", but not "updated reader" -- hanging
until killed. No window is ever displayed.
#!/usr/local/bin/python
import os
from vtkpython import *
ren = vtkRenderer()
renWin = vtkRenderWindow()
renWin.AddRenderer(ren)
renWin.SetSize(500,500)
iren = vtkRenderWindowInteractor()
iren.SetRenderWindow(renWin)
reader = vtkPolyDataReader()
reader.SetFileName("cone.vtk")
print "about to update reader"
reader.Update()
print "updated reader"
mapper = vtkPolyDataMapper ()
mapper.SetInput (reader.GetOutput ())
surfActor = vtkActor ()
surfActor.SetMapper (mapper)
ren.AddActor(surfActor)
ren.SetBackground(1,1,1)
iren.Initialize()
renWin.Render()
iren.Start()
