[vtkusers] reducing triangles

Dear All
I am making 3D models in vtk format. I'm using the following filters
Decimator, smoother, stripper:
The stripper produces other polygons and triangles. I need to have only 
triangles. If I use the trianglefilter, the number of faces is multiplied by 
5, and my models are very heavy.
Is there a way to get triangles whithout getting heavy models?? or to reduce 
the trinagles?
