[vtkusers] How can I manipulate the Dataset?

Dear all VTK user:
I am a new user in VTK, I want to move one object to touch another object.  
When two objects were touch together, some signal will control another 
device.  How can I get this signal? Can anyone sent me some idea or example? 
Can I use VtkPolyDataReader?
