I think you can take a look at Nvidia graphic adapters, especially the
GeForce/GeForce 2 series.

They have linux drivers at this link :

the page states :

Hello folks,

we are trying to move to the linux platform (currently we are using SGI
machines) and we would like to know the best choice for 3-D graphics
cards. Basically we are quite interesting in having fully support and
best performance for the vtk library (so it means the best OpenGL
graphic card i guess)
Need your advice! ;)
