Here we use AVS/Express and Ensight in addition to VTK..

We're happy with the performance/price ratio of all the software over all
the platforms SGI, Solaris and NT ?!!!. 

All the software provide extensibility and scalability. The prime
advantage with VTK is that building a custom GUI is easy and also
scripting the required result for production is also easy.
