[vtkusers] vtkMarchingContourFilter: positional information preserved?

Hi fellow vtker's

If I pass vtkImageData through one of the contouring filters, 
vtkMarchingContourFilter for example, is the positional information of the 
input data preserved?

Ie., I've defined the spatial position of the vtkImageData by specifying the 
spacing and the origin. Does the vtkPolyData contour line / surface output 
from the vtkMarchingContourFilter preserve this spatial information? Thus, 
would finding the intersection of a line with a point on a contour return to 
the same (x,y,z) coordinates as of the corresponding point in the original 
vtkImageData set?

Enquiring minds would like to know.

Any insight would be most appreciated. Thanks.
