Can VTK be used with the GLUT library?

The web page for "Visualization Toolkit FAQ Entry"
(http://public.kitware.com/cgi-bin/vtkfaq?req=show&file=faq05.002.htp)

says that the GLAUX.LIB  library is required to build examples on a PC.
The AUX library is rather old and has been superseded by the GLUT
library.

Is it possible to use VTK with the GLUT library?
