User Defined data

Hello,
Iam trying to read user defined data from a file where I have created
data.
Eg:-I have drawn rectangles and stored them in an array.
In reality I would like to read the 2 dimensional ultrasound frames and
convert them to 3D.and read them from the  buffer.
For the time being I am using SDK (VC++) to generate the data.
Also I want to convert the VTK into DLL.
To read the data Iam using vtkStructuredPoints and scalars.
Is this valid,
