collision detection in vtk?

Jan,

I haven't tried this yet (I'm about to) but you can export a model from vtk
to OpenInventor 2.0 format (vtkIVWriter) then use D. Manowitz code to
convert this to Vcollide format ( cf.
http://web.mit.edu/manowitz/www/ivcollide.tar.Z ). It's a work-around, I
know, and may not be useful for a stand-alone app, but at least his c++
would be a start on implementing something for vtk. BTW, I'd be interested
in any other suggestions you get!

Hope this helps,

Goodwin

Subject:	collision detection in vtk?

dear vtk users,
in our application, we need a fast collision detection method between two
(or maybe more) actors.

has anybody written fast collision detection routines? or has anybody
ported
available libraries like RAPID or VCOLLIDE to vtk?

any hints are greatly appreciated
