suggestions

I have the need to visualize some data which is coming in in real time
(not very frequently - twice a minute perhaps) and users would also like
to be able to manipulate the data and (change the source, new isosurface
value, etc).  What is the best strategy to allow
vtkRenderWindowInteractor-esque interaction, other controls, and
periodic updates in the same app?  Are there any examples of this?
