[vtk-developers] Checking SMP backend at runtime/compiletime?

I didn't intend to cause a ruckus with my original question, but this has
been a good discussion :)

I'll hopefully be merging the new (and, might I add, optional!) vtkSMPTools
implementation of the vtk imaging pipeline soon so that people can try it
out.  Don't worry, the original implementation is still there.  To echo
Berk what said, the intent is to provide a clear path forward.
