[vtk-developers] X11 and libGL always linked

Hi Andy,

do you actually get static executables out of the superbuild (ldd 
pvserver reports not a dyanmic exec)?. If so then I really should look 
into it.  The reason I haven't is that the superbuild adds complications 
and potential failure points, which due to NERSC's aggressive system 
software upgrades, I predict I will be the one debugging. same with 
cross compiling. I feel that neither superbuild nor cross compile should 
be necessary on these systems, which have same cpu arch on login and 
compute nodes. On the other hand it would be worth the hassle if it is 
indeed producing static execs.
