[vtk-developers] TestFixedPointRayCasterLinearCropped failure

To complicate things further, the mapper uses a multithreaded helper
filter internally: vtkVolumeRayCastSpaceLeapingImageFilter.  And there
isn't any way for a user to control the number of threads used by the
helper other than by setting the GlobalDefaultNumberOfThreads.
