Brad,

I tried to build VTK/Testing/External against an installed VTK. Maybe
I'm doing something wrong. How did you test this topic?

cmake -DVTK_DIR:PATH=../VTK-install/lib/cmake/vtk-6.0
~/ProjectsGIT/VTKGerrit/Testing/External

and I get
CMake Error at CMakeLists.txt:21 (find_package):
  Could not find a package configuration file provided by "VTK" with any of
  the following names:

    VTKConfig.cmake
    vtk-config.cmake

  Add the installation prefix of "VTK" to CMAKE_PREFIX_PATH or set "VTK_DIR"
  to a directory containing one of the above files.  If "VTK" provides a
  separate development package or SDK, be sure it has been installed.
