I'd be in favor of a strict naming convention, it just makes it easier
to communicate.  I'm particularly in favor of the lowercase-dash
convention.

If someone says "go checkout my-stuff-here" they immediately know you
are talking about a branch, and not about a directory or a file etc.

I like the convention too, and would be happy to adopt/advocate that convention. If we hear no major objections I will get this integrated into the relevant wiki pages.
