Use the -r arg to cvs checkout to get the VTK-5-2 branch:

cvs -d :pserver:anonymous at public.kitware.com:/cvsroot/VTK checkout -r
VTK-5-2 VTK

Hi Valeria,

To check out VTK 5.2 from the CVS repository, do the login step as you
listed in your email. Then use the -r tag with the cvs checkout command to
get the 5.2 branch (as shown below). The tag for the branch is VTK-5.2.

cvs -d :pserver:anonymous at public.kitware.com:/cvsroot/VTK checkout -r
VTK-5-2 VTK
