of the Section Computational Science, Universiteit van Amsterdam
has a job opening for a


Scientific Programmer in Scientific Visualization and Virtual Reality
for 38 hours a week, for 2 years
vacancy number 06-1026

The Scientific Visualization and Virtual Reality (SVVR) research group 
of the Section Computational Science, Universiteit van Amsterdam, is 
responsible for education and research in both national and 
international research projects, including subjects such as Interaction 
in Virtual Environments, Interactive Distributed Computing, 
Computational Steering, Visualization Devices and Applications. Through 
a close collaboration with SARA Computing and Networking Services, the 
SVVR research group has access to a broad range of VR and interactive 
visualization devices, including a fully-immersive CAVE and several 
in-house developed devices.

DESCRIPTION
With the acceptance of the European Integrated Project ‘Advancing 
Clinico-Genomic Trials (ACGT) on Cancer’, the SVVR research group has a 
job opening for a scientific programmer for a period of 2 years, 
starting as soon as possible. The candidate will be responsible for 
supporting our researchers in ACGT and other research projects, 
including the design and implementation of software, maintenance of VR 
and visualization devices installed at the research group and the 
installed software, the preparation of reports, and participation in the 
preparation of educational material for relevant courses given by the group.
