[vtk-developers] VTK New Pipeline

In the next couple of days we hope to make the new pipeline the only
pipeline in VTK. We have been making this change on the VTK-Executive branch
and are now to the point where we want to merge those changes to the main
tree. There is a document that we are working on that provides some
information on how to convert your filters to the new pipeline and there is
a conversion script that will help automate that process. There is also a
complete backwards compatibility layer so that if you do not want to convert
your filters then they should still work.  You may be required to make some
fixes or changes to your filters if they manipulate the pipeline, etc. So
basically this is a warning that the VTK tree may be a mess this week once
we commit the changes (the branch builds and passes all tests but.) If you
are developing from the CVS version of VTK, your pain will be reduced if you
do not update VTK for a few days after we merge the changes in. (I will send
en email once they are merged).
