Thanks Ken for your detailed reply. Actually, I've derived some stuff from
vtkProcessObject, but not had to mess about with it too much apart from the
odd tweak to make RPD work. Hopefully, I'll be able to get it all going
without too many changes. On that note...

Mind you, I had to have quite a lot of control of set/get input and output
type things. Particularly setOutput, because a filter producing a Dataset
which might be imagedata or polydata or anything else, required certain
hooks to detect when the output types changed. Do the new input and output
port objects make this kind of thing easier? (NB. Not read doc attached yet,
but possibly its the one I've already seen)
