[vtk-developers] VTK/Widgets directory

John hit on something I've been thinking about too: creation of a
VTK/Widgets directory. I like John's idea of doing some prototyping in that
directory and leaving the old widgets alone for the time being; eventually
to be replaced, reworked, refactored, etc. I talked to a couple of folks
here including Ken and he is okay with it.

The next step: we need to put some electrons on (virtual) paper. I suggest
that between us we come up with an object hierarchy before cutting any
code. Then we can each choose to implement various parts. I think the best
way to do this is to create a pdf document with two things in it: 1)
UML/object diagrams and 2) abbreviated use cases. This document can then be
checked into that directory and we can work on it together.

So: who will do the first crack? who will maintain the document? (and if we
jointly maintain it) what tool will we use to author it?

My opinion: I would like to take first crack. I would like to maintain it
(so we don't have to worry about a shared tool). I would like to work via
phone, email and even fax to incorporate your changes. The only problem
with this is that I am likely slower than you guys because of other
demands, but I am willing to keep a steady tortoise pace :-)

Comments (others not directly involved with the widgets are welcome to
comment as well).

Will
