[vtk-developers] VTK Versions

Hello Folk,

 

I'm thinking of adding version numbers to VTK libraries and executables.
Specifically vtkCommon42, vtkCommonTCL42, vtk42, etc. There may also be
at some point vtkCommon42.so.0 to handle patches to the UNIX libs. Also
we are working on an option for vtkCommon42d (or _d etc) for debug libs.
But my immediate question is are there any opinions against adding a
version to the libs and executables? If so please let me know.
