[vtk-developers] Starting out

Hi all,

having recently developed a vtkImagePlaneWidget based on Will's
vtkPlaneWidget and Atamai Inc.'s python classes, I was granted developer
access to the vtk 4 CVS repository.

1) Would someone be so kind as to provide some guidance (or links) on how to
properly commit/monitor my changes to this class and the accompanying cxx
test with cvs? I have wincvs but mostly I just run cygwin bash
scripts/commands that call cvs sans gui.

2) Should I alter my vtk source directly or should I copy/edit/test and
overwrite...then what to do with cvs?

BTW, I have 2 Win-based PC's here (Proximal.CRU and ResearchPB.CRU) that do
nightly cmake & (so far) experimental vtk builds, so I am familiar with (but
by no means an expert with) the Dashboards. I'm really looking forward to
continuing to contribute and I greatly appreciate being given the privilege
to participate in this way...

Dean
