No, it runs the old tests. There is no need to trick the new system.

Do you mean it also links to the Tcl test in the new tree ?
They are not using the same method to load the VTK command into the Tcl 
interpreter (i.e. you can't use the Tcl test of the new tree with the old 
tree).
If you really need that, contact me privately, I can write a new package 
index file for the old tree that will actually trigger 'catch {load 
vtktcl}' when 'package require vtktcl' is issued.
