[Ves] Help building VES for iOS 8.x/Xcode 6.x

With the following steps, I seem to have completed a build.

1. Disabling VES_USE_CURL to not deal with some unrelated build errors in
this subsystem.
2. Using the following patch:
https://gist.github.com/hnarayanan/0f18c9e441cfe2d2342b

I am documenting it here for anyone else who might have run into these
problems.
