GenerateData exists, see

This is ITK's internal machinery. When you call Update, it will call
itk::DataObject::Update(). This will call UpdateOutputInformation,
PropagateRequestedRegion and UpdateOutputData. The latter will call
UpdateOutputData in ImageSource which will eventually call GenerateData.
