Hi Arvid,
Well, you're on the right track :-)
Your Shepp Logan reconstruction looks fine, I guess it is just a
visualization problem: you can use vv
http://www.creatis.insa-lyon.fr/rio/vv
to open it and you will be able to change the "window" and "level"
settings in visualization.
Regarding the cylinder, can you send your geometry file too ?
