[Paraview] How find local maxima of a scalar field in a slice

Dear all,
I need to find the local maxima of a scalar field on a slice in Paraview.
I need both the value of my scalar variable and also the tridimensional position of the local maxima.
Searching on the blog, I have found a possible vtk function:
https://www.vtk.org/doc/release/5.0/html/a01562.html

Someone of you know some simpler and faster way to solve my problem (maybe using numpy library)?
