A single data set has three FIELDs, one the collection of arrays that are
aligned with the geometry(ie points ie nodes) (vtkPointData), one the
collection of arrays that are aligned with the connectivity (aka cells aka
elements) (vtkCellData) and another the collection of arrays which are not
aligned with anything other than the data set (vtkFieldData).
You may have found a bug in the writer. Would you mind filing a bug report
and referencing the email thread?
