I'm assuming (since I don't know what repos you have configured) that 
you have paraview-3.8.1-2.el6.x86_64 from EPEL.  In that case you do not 
run the /usr/lib64/paraview/paraview directly, but run 
/usr/bin/paraview.  Does that fail?
