[Paraview] tex in scalar bar

There indeed is an easier way to do this. You can directly change the
label used for the color scalar bar without having to change the array
name. Refer to the following blog post on how to edit the Color Legend
parameters:

There you can enter the mathtext as Dave suggested in the "Title" field.

This is indeed the recommended way for changing color legend titles. I
would not use the calculator as that would unnecessarily result in
duplicating of the data array.
