[Paraview] xmdf question, vector and raw binary data

I think the JOIN function is supposed to allow that:

But I had trouble using that when I tried long ago and resorted to
using the calculator filter to do the corresponding thing after the
read. (field1*iHat+field2*jHat+field3*kHat).
