[Paraview] mesh with refinement

Dear Paraview experts,

I have a fluid mesh (and liquid/air interfaces) with refinements - see picture attached.  There is only 1 fluid domain and this domain has not been partitioned.  But, paraview displays "shading" at the boundaries of the refinement region.  I am wondering how to remove these shading.

I have tried "clean cells to grid" and "clean to grid". But, both did not help.
