[Paraview] pvpython without graphics

Hello list,
Is it possible to execute a pvpython script without a valid x-windows display? Maybe a no-graphics flag or environmental setting?

I am using paraview to post-process .vtk files in batch mode. It would be ideal not to have to rely on a display.
