Hi Thomas,
thank you for your answer. I have managed to import a test mesh into Paraview and display its quality. Next I will study the information sources you and David gave me and try to understand what the "Quality" value means - I get values mostly near zero, going up to 14 for some cells.

Hello,
there are some good papers by Knupp, who was involved in developing Cubit, and also others especially in the context of mesh quality improvement. In general it is pretty easy to asses mesh quality in Paraview. You just have to load the elements via a vtk file (just google for it and you will find a manual, it's basically self explaining) and use the the Filter Mesh Quality.
