[Paraview] Join two derived variables

Hello,

I´m new to Paraview and I am trying to perform a rather simple task I used
to do with Tecplot. I have the flow field of a flat plate and I want to
compare the boundary layer of my simulation with the theoretical velocity
profile of Blasius. For that, both the velocity tangetial to the plate and
the distance normal to the plate have to be turn dimensionless. This is how
I´ve tried to do it in Paraview:
I open the solution file with the Tecplot reader, I add two Calculator
filters to derive the dimensionless variables, then I join the two results
with the Group Datasets filter. At that point I can find the two
dimensionless variables in the Object inspector when the GroupDatasets1
object is activated in the pipeline. The problem is that only one of the two
new variables is displayed appropriately with "Display, Color by" or by
applying the Plot Over Line filter.

Am I making some fundamental mistake? How would you people do this?

Another funny thing is that for the Group Datasets object, I see in the
Information tab that I now have twice as many points and cells. That´s not
what I wanted and sounds pretty inefficient. I only want to create new
variables for already existing cells.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Pablo Mosquera
