[Paraview] How to load a VTI time series into the latest Paraview?

I enclose two vti files which are a part of a larger time series and represent a fluid dynamics simulation. The first file represents an empty domain whereas the second file represents a partly filled domain. When I load only one of the files, everything works. When I try to load the whole series and go to time 1, the Paraview crashes. What should I do to make it work? I need to have empty vti files in the beginning of the simulation and only at certain time the domain should start to fill. Otherwise I would have to fill the domains from the beginning and that would be a waste of disk space.
Second question is. What type of vtX file should I use, if I want to have a vti like structure with plenty of cells turned off?
Thank you.
Oldrich
