[Paraview] Maybe a silly question?

The ex2 object is a reader, it won't have data in it. The ex2 object
should have a control that you can use to specify which arrays to
read/ignore from the file but that is different from what you are
asking for.
In any case when you update the reader it it will produce data, and
that you already know how to fetch and inspect.
