Also try setting the environment variable PV_DEBUG_PLUGIN
(http://paraview.org/Wiki/ParaView/Developer_Info#PV_PLUGIN_DEBUG).
ParaView wil start dumping information to the command line about
plugins it tries to load and their load status, error messgages etc,.
