[Paraview] plugin mismatch?

Not sure, I was able to play with this plugin just fine. Try this:

Go to "Edit | Settings" dialog. Open up the "Render View" pages and go
to the "Server" Page. There, uncheck the remote-render threshold. Are
things still broken?
