[Paraview] 3.8.0 segfault - Animate Parameters -> File Prefix

I run pv 3.8.0-RC2, QT version 4.6.2, built from source on
Linux 2.6.18-164.6.1.el5 #1 SMP x86_64 GNU/Linux

I've a sequence of numbered binary files named <filename>.number,
which I want to load into PV and create a keyframe animation of.

I followed this guide:

I chose in the Object Inspector Properties -> File Prefix:

	/path/to/file/<filename>

in File Pattern:

	%s.%d

then Apply - all seems fine.

The pipeline browser displays the name of the first file
in the sequence: <filename>.0

I then open Animation View.

In Animate more Parameters I choose File Prefix. HIt "+" and
created a new animation track. Now I needed to change the Prefix
to the value of the last file in the sequence. I double click
on the track to bring up the Animation Keyframes menu. Then
double click on the Value field, enter the desired value
(10 in my case), and hit ok. The new value appears in the
anumation track.

When I click play animation - I get segfault.
No other output.

Please advise

I do apologise if this is explained in the manual somewhere.
