[Paraview] Paraview freezes when run from Mini-Commander

I am running Fedora 11. I have the "Command Line: Mini-Commander" item in my
panel. If I type 'paraview' and hit enter. Paraview launches, but most of
the time it will lock up after a few minutes of use. If I run 'paraview&'
from a terminal, there are never any problems. Has anyone seen anything like
this / does this make sense to anyone? I thought these two methods are doing
identically the same thing?
