Yeah, having Qt 4.3.3's qmake in the path first would prevent this error.

But in ParaView's CMakeLists.txt, we should check that and give the user a 
second chance to fix that without fixing their environment, or starting from 
a clean build directory again.

Anyway, its fixed in CVS now.
