[Paraview] Live data?

Hello,

Does ParaView now have the "animating live data" features discussed at

http://paraview.org/Wiki/Animating_Live_Data  ?

Also, is there an existing reader for scalar point data (Point3D), as
described at

http://visitusers.org/index.php?title=Reading_point_data

or something similar?
