[Paraview] ASCII saving, newbe

Hi all,

I'm new to paraview and it's mailing. I hope I'm doing the right thing by sending my question to "paraview at paraview.org", if mistaken, please excuse me. I don't yet fully understand the way this works, because there is no real forum of paraview that you can see by means of a web page, it seems to me that it goes by e-mail as far as I understood. Maybe someone could explain me why a mailing list is preferred in stead of a normal web based forum, but anyway, here are my questions:

Being unable to compile stuff like paraviews myself, I installed paraview under windows by means of the usual "setup.exe" file. Paraview supports several file formats, but the most interesting of them are all in binary, while, coming from aerodynamics, I am only able to generate ASCII in fortran, (binary is possible but a bit complicated to me with the endians etc.).

1. How do I save a binary read file, for example read in binary vtk format, into ASCII format? Is recompiling ParaView really the only option? Why isn't it standard in the "save as.." option to choose ASCII or binary?

2. Do there exist standard fortran routines for saving data in VTK or any paraview readable format? If so, where can I get them?

3. Do there exist standard ASCII to binary converters (and vice versa) for ParaView?

Paraview can read EnSight files already.
4. Wouldn't it be a good idea to include a Tecplot ASCII format reader?

I hope I'm at the right address with my questions. Once again, if I'm mistaken and bothering you, please excuse me, I'm still trying to find out how this mailing systems works.
