[Paraview] Fw: a question

hi,all

when a dataset is read into paraview by a reader, 
it can be processed by filters. 
After processed by a filter, there are 2 "dataset" in paraview--new one and old one,
we can select each of them in the Selection Window. Paraview must store both of them.

so  where is the dataset stored after be read by paraview? in memory? 
how does paraview maintain dataset?
