[Paraview-developers] Problem with transform filter in PV 4.0.1 mac

Hi Utkarsh:
I have run a few more tests.
I tried out the VTS files on ParaView 4.1, and, to rule out a problem with my grid scaling, I ran it unscaled (meters) and scaled to Earth Radii. For some reason, the streamlines on the unscaled grid did not trace all the way back to the inner boundary… all other scalings successfully trace back to the boundary…
Anyway, here are the videos for these tests:
1. VTS files – PV41: https://www.dropbox.com/s/lnd72x44bzwwyl1/Ghost%20Rotation%20Test%20%28vts%29%20%5Bpv41%5D.avi
2. Native File – No Grid Scaling: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ddqy5hzbyfg2x29/Ghost%20Rotation%20Test%20%28enlil%29%20%5Bno%20grid%20scaling%5D.avi
3. Native File – Earth Radii grid scaling: https://www.dropbox.com/s/emxlqbfsd0ctd63/Ghost%20Rotation%20Test%20%28enlil%29%20%5BEarth%20Radii%20Scaling%5D.avi
Do you know what could cause such a rotation issue? Are there some other tests I could do to see what is going on?
Thanks,
Josh

Very curious. I'd suggesting exporting the data out as a series of VTK files and then importing that file series and applying the transform. If that works as expected, then there's something funky in the reader.

Hello All,
I am trying to validate a coordinate transform filter I am working on, but before I even got to dealing with my filter, I appear to be having a problem with the built in paraview transform filter.
Here is a link to a video that shows the behavior issue I am experiencing.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/r17s572a76w8afa/rotation%20problem.avi
The video shows the following:
DataSet: Enlil Heliospheric Model (utilizing my own reader) (I am using the magnetic field vector for the following traces)
Red Line: Un-Transformed data set: magnetic field line trace through Earth
Blue Line: Transformed data set (rotated 180degrees around the z axis): Magnetic Field line through Earth.
What I am trying to figure out is this:
Is there something wrong with the ParaView transform filter? Or did I screw something up my reader that is making the transform filter not work correctly?
Can someone familiar with how the transform filter works provide some input on what might be going on?
Thanks,
Josh
