[Paraview-developers] Option protection in vtkPVOptions

Is there a reason why the option fields in vtkPVOptions (such as
ConnectID, ReverseConnection, etc.) are
private?  I ask because I am writing a ParaView client and it would help
if they were protected so that I have access to them.

On a related note, is there a reason for not having SetXXX methods for
the majority of the options?
