Hi Brian,
does the server has a GPU? If that's the case you may be interested to look
at that documentation:
http://www.paraview.org/ParaView3/Doc/Nightly/www/js-doc/index.html#!/guide/virtualgl_turbovnc_howto
Otherwise, you will have to build ParaView with OSMesa.
